Our New Pastor and Family

Mendoza Family Vote Day

Join us in welcoming our new Pastor, Jacob Mendoza, his wife Beth, and daughter Sarah. The church vote was unanimous, and we know that God will do great things through them at Helmers Street Baptist Church.

Pastor Mendoza believes that his responsibilities include giving himself “continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the Word” (Acts 6:4), and preaching the Word as described in Second Timothy 4:2, as excerpted from his doctrinal statement:

1.  “Preach the Word…” with a burning compassion and obsession. As an ambassador would deliver the message with the dignity of the one who is sending it.  “All Scripture…” 2Timothy 3:16.

A.  Because preaching is God’s chosen method. 1Corinthians 1:18,21; Matthew 10:7,27; Mark 16:15; Acts 5:20; 2Timothy 4:2

B.  Because the pastor is held accountable to preach. 1Corinthians 9:16

II.  “Be instant in season, out of season…” No matter the time or circumstances.

III.  “Reprove” – to stir a person to conviction by proving himself. To help lead a person to see their sinfulness before God and feel guilty over it.

IV.  “Rebuke” – A very strong word meaning to outline the judgment surely to follow if repentance does not come. – 1Timothy 5:20; Titus 1:9; 2:15

V.  “Exhort” – To beseech, encourage, comfort, and help but also to love them to Christ. Exhort with long-suffering and all doctrine. Hebrews 3:13

We look forward to a long and profitable ministry with the Mendozas here at Helmers Street Baptist Church!
